Rough Week Over!

Miss Ruby is down for a nap after much effort today and I am online to do a quick post and some research. Thanks for all the great advice on the Dr., eating, TV, and misc. issues. I guess it was just all so much this week. I was writing an email to a friend early this morning when it hit me: This past week we had several outings including an hour and a half ride to the Dr. and a 3 hour visit once there. We went to the lab 2 days later to get 10 viles of blood taken from her tiny little arm. Daddy had to be in his office working more than the week before. We put her on a new formula because the one we had from Thailand ran out. We also tried some new foods that have not seemed to go down well. She started drooling the last 4 days, putting her fingers in her mouth, and chewing on stuff. A friend suggested she could be teething and getting her 2 year molars in. It doesn't look particular red or puffy but I am thinking she may be right. These habits just came on this week. So in looking back on all this - in addition to the eczema and dandruff that has been plaguing her but slowly getting better - it's no wonder the poor kid's had irregular sleeping patterns! Last night she actually got a solid 10 hours - and I got 9 - hurray! I went back to familiar foods for her today - chicken and veggies with rice. She ate a HUGE amount with a big smile on her face. Still wondering if it's the food or the formula that's bugging her or maybe both??? Hard to get her down to sleep without that formula. I guess we will figure it all out in the coming days. Looking forward to a relaxing and fun weekend with the little miss and the hubby. My Dad is coming tomorrow and we have a play date with Ava today. Should be nice!

forgot to mention -maybe too late now unless you can have some Thai formula sent- when we transitioned M from Chinese formula to US formula ( and then again frm formula to cow's milk and then once more to soy milk) we would slowly introduce the new mixed in w/ the old and ach day change the ratio to the new by a quarter each time until it was fully the other. So it took us four days to make a transition (one quarter new to three quarters old, so on and so forth). It made it easier for M to accept. Perhaps you can try that if you haven't already -are you absolutely completely all out of the Thai formula? None in a suitcase or anything?
Good luck!

Oh that poor baby, the blood work experience certainly is not what any parent wants to put their little ones thorugh. We are having the same food issues, but continue to at least offer Lyla new foods even though she won't eat them usually. She is still up on her weight 19.6 pounds which about a pound. The doctor put her on Latcotse free Pedisure which I found an organic form of it. (Nature's One) I hope everything goes wonderfully for you this weekend.

Adjustment is rough, no matter what the circumstances. Sounds like you're on top of things. Glad you got good sleep. The whole world is rosier with a good night's sleep!

Glad things are improving. By the way - we got tentative travel dates leaving in about 5 weeks.

So glad you are settling in. Life here is busy! I know you can relate! It's been hard getting back in our routine home schooling the girls with Joel running around! I think we've turned the corner though and life is good. I've been keeping up with you but haven't commented b/c it's like I'm stealing 2 seconds to check blogs and just see how everyone is. But I'm looking in on you and I'm sure you're doing a fabulous job, mama!

Love and hugs from the chilly south!
Kam

My girls had dandruff problems as well when we just arrived in the USA, for 3 months!! I even had a play date with a wife of a doctor and nobody said anything.... you know what it was.... lice! So make sure that it is dandruff... people are shy of telling you! There is still such a stigma on...

Thanks, Mireille - I had a dr. check for that immediately - believe me!

And Kam - nice to hear from you! I totally hear what your saying and understand! Popped on your blog the other night too and was loving all those great pics on your blog. Glad to see he is doing well.

Liz - we were recommended to get the Pediasure also. Still doing dairy since her formula was milk-based I am ruling that out but introducing it slowly. Glad to hear little Lyla is up a lb!

Christina - thanks, again! And we did try to wean her off the other and mix but ran out quickly and it didn't go over well when we put milk in. Gonna try again and use whole milk this time.

Terri - I sent you an email about your travel dates...hope you got it! So excited for you!
and Jess, last but not least, thanks and excited to hear your news very very soon!
